SO YOU WANT TO BE A DREAD HEAD?

Dreadlocks has been around for centuries. At one point or another almost every culture throughout the world has sported dreadlocks. It's so simple to achieve the look. Just leave the hair alone and live your life and you will have dreadlocks.

Some ancient cultures that wore dreadlocks are Egyptians, Vikings, and Celtics. Even Samson from the Bible had dreadlocks.

Today people of the Rastafarian culture still sport dreadlocks, there are also many cultures throughout Ethiopia and all of Africa that wear Dreadlocks.

One particular type of Dreadlocks called sister locks was learned from the Hamar tribe in Ethiopia. They create micro dreadlocks with the interlocking technique. The micro dreadlocks are then saturated with red mud and butter giving them a vibrant red hue. The Himba Tribe in Namibia does larger Dreadlocks and they also use red mud and butter to saturate their locks.

There has been lots of arguments pertaining to which culture or ethnic group fathered dreadlocks and who has the right to wear them and who doesn't. However, history tells us that at some point in time, almost every human being regardless of ethnicity or religion has rocked Dreadlocks. We can all love and celebrate Dreadlocks together. If you have hair, then dreads are for YOU!
